Water pooling on a walk-in floor, or ice forming under the evaporator, usually traces back to the drain. The line is clogged or frozen, or the heater that keeps it from freezing has quit. It’s a small repair. Left alone, the water turns into ice on the floor (a slip hazard) and then ice in the coil, and that’s a bigger repair. A freezer with the same symptoms is covered under walk-in freezer repair.
Town Center and the office kitchens
Reston Town Center puts restaurants, a hotel and office buildings into a few blocks. If your kitchen is in one of those buildings, tell us which entrance or dock the tech should use and whether there’s a building engineer to check in with. Near the Silver Line stations, office cafeterias mostly run on weekdays, so ask whoever closes on Friday to write down each box’s temperature on the way out.
Out in the village centers
The grocers and restaurants in the village centers and at Lake Anne Plaza run the usual mix of walk-ins, reach-ins and ice machines. Drains and condenser coils are exactly what maintenance visits keep up with, and for a kitchen with several units they’re usually the simpler way to go.
